Wedding Festivities!

Thursday August 23rd: Free Yoga!
Welcome to Bar Harbor everyone!  Most everyone is here by now and we're so thrilled that you're all safe and sound on the Island.  Laura Neal, the officiant for the ceremony, dear yoga teacher and friend is offering a free yoga class to any of our guests who are interested in relaxing for 1 hour.  The class will be at 1PM Friday August 24th at the Yoga @ Cattitude studio right in down town Bar Harbor.  Here's the link for the studio's website, hope to see you there!  Namaste.

Monday August 13th:  Your Presence is Presents Enough :)
Having all of you to celebrate with is the best gift we could have asked for.  We are so fortunate!  We have received many questions regarding wedding gifts and what to buy.  We have not registered anywhere because we look forward to the surprise of gifts from people we know and love....things that will forever remind us of who gave them.  We love items supporting your local craftsmen, things without batteries or power cords, useful, outdoorsy, funky and made in North America sorts of stuff.  You can do no wrong...these are just ideas because many have asked.  As we have no house, money is perfectly practical, welcome and very travel-sized!  The tradition of gift-giving at weddings is something we wish to honour and by no means insist on presents, we simply want to offer guidance for those of you still scratching your heads.  Less than two weeks to go!

Friday August 3rd:  What to Wear!
We are finally in Maine and preparations are in full swing!  It's great to be back on the Island with a constant sea breeze to keep us cool.  On that note: IT IS ALWAYS COLDER ON THE WATER, especially the ocean.  Most of you are mindful of this, but please bring a sweater to the ceremony/reception.  Contrary to a sea breeze the sun can be quite warm and the cove where we are having our ceremony offers no shade.  There will be a breeze, but bring an umbrella in case wedding day dawns nice and hot.  Rest assured, the ceremony will be short and sweet, but just be prepared!

This is an all terrain event; grass, pavement and gravel will be underfoot for the entire evening, please care for your feet accordingly, there is much dancing to be had!  There will be a short (5 minute) walk down a paved hill from the trolley to the ceremony.  We strongly suggest a very practical heel or flats for the ladies because of this.  We can't wait to see everyone dressed in their finest (yet comfortable!) wedding attire, we are going to have such a great party.

Sunday July 15th:  Transportation
The Island is a pretty small place.  Parking can be quite limited, especially in the National park.  The ceremony is being held just down the road from Betsy and Tod's house within the park boundaries.  Because of this traffic congestion is a big concern.  Our wedding permit from the Park has been issued under the premise of few (if any!) cars present at the ceremony. We have arranged for trolleys to pick you all up in Bar Harbor and deliver you to the ceremony and then to the reception.  Taxis will be on call for the remainder of the evening to get everyone home safe and sound.  Please don't hesitate to ask  if you have concerns about how you're going to get to and from the party!   We will be posting a final schedule of trolley pick up times and rendezvous locations when we get a bit closer.

Saturday July 14th: Get Excited!
The wedding celebration has already begun, we were graciously blessed with a lovely shower/barbecue at the cottage last weekend marking 7 weeks until the big day.  We are getting excited to get to Maine in the beginning of August to finalize the little details!

Bar Harbor is beautiful in the summer and there is much to do.  Check out the links below for information about the National Park on Mount Desert Island and wonderful stuff going on in town.  It's a great place to explore, eat and shop, enjoy your research :)
